China Railway Materials Commercial Corporation (CRM) is a large-scale state-owned enterprise under the supervision of State-owned Assets Supervision & Administration Commission of the State Council (SASAC). It¡¯s a large scale international group in trading and logistics whose market targeting not only railway systems but also the whole society.
CRM¡¯s major business is to provide all materials for the transportation and construction of the railway system, including rails, diesel oil, wheels, wheel hubs,
machinery and electronic equipments, locomotive and rolling stock ***re parts, steels, cement, and woods. Its minor business includes large scale storehouses, distribution, real estate, and customs clearance and distribution for imports. Its manufacturing sector produces concrete sleepers, on-track materials, preservative sleepers, cement, and fireproof woods. CRM has professional subsidiaries in international trade with powerful railway network rooted in China¡¯s railway system and an integrate marketing network for railway materials.
It was restructured from the Materials Management Bureau of the Ministry of Railways. Headquartered in Beijing, CRM holds 27 wholly-owned subordinate enterprises, 5 holding co***nies, 4 oversea co***nies, and 1 Logistics College. Its subsidiary co***nies are located in China's big cities like Beijing, Shanghai, Tianjin, Guangzhou, Harbin, Shenyang, Wuhan, Xi'an, Chengdu, and Shenzhen. It has 18 storage and transportation bases with storage area of 1.55 million m2. Its 110 dedicated railway lines are up to 106 linear kilometers in length. In 2006, its sales revenue reached 65.39 billion RMB, and its total assets amounted to 22.3 billion RMB. In 2006, among the TOP 500 Chinese Enterprises, CRM ranked 51st, the 22nd in the service industry, and the 42nd among the TOP 500 Enterprise Groups released by the National Bureau of Statistics of China.
